Honing machines for hydraulic cylinders
A hydraulic cylinder tube works against seals and piston under pressure: bore quality decides sealing, friction and service life. Hydraulic cylinder honing brings the bore to size, corrects out-of-roundness and taper and creates a surface that retains the oil film without wearing the seals.
Why hone hydraulic cylinders
- Sealing: a round, cylindrical bore reduces leakage and pressure loss.
- Seal life: controlled roughness, often with a plateau finish, limits seal wear.
- Sliding: the honing cross-hatch retains oil and reduces piston friction.
Honitech machines for hydraulic cylinders
Hydraulic cylinders are mainly honed on vertical expansion honing machines, with one or more heads, X slide or XY table, mechanical or air gauges for in-process measurement and optional robot loading. Combined machines add single-stroke diamond finishing, VPM machines handle heavy parts and the HOB portable machine hones cylinders on site.
